Serving an enormous area, including Bucks, Philadelphia, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties, Contact listeners offer confidential, empowering assistance for callers experiencing emotional crisis. Contact Greater Philadelphia makes and receives almost 150,000 calls per annum. The majority of Contact’s inbound calls come from lonely, depressed, anxious, and needy individuals residing in the Greater Philadelphia region. For many of these callers, Contact’s trained volunteers are an important source of support, socialization, and assistance. Accredited by the American Association of Suicidology, Contact Greater Philadelphia is affiliated with a large network of mental health service providers. Contact has three products to offer, including the crisis lines, the Reassurance program, and Children of Aging Parents (CAPS). Contact’s Reassurance program identifies seniors who live in isolated circumstances and pairs them with volunteers who telephone them 365 days per year. These calls are crucial for socialization and safety check purposes. Contact’s CAPS program provides guidance and support for groups of adults caring for dependent parents and other seniors. Contact Greater Philadelphia interfaces with a dynamic group of local public and private community service providers, referring callers to free and sliding-scale resources in the local area. Funded entirely by grants, the United Way of Bucks County, benevolent local businesses, and individual donations, Contact aims to answer every single distress call it receives.
